Ailment: Soaring Title Version 1

Description

A spin-off idea off of Ailment, if I were to turn the idea into a game, my first form of trying out a game design would actually be this.

Now what it is exactly is a branch off in the story of Ailment III, in which instead of simply using a jet to fly to safety, the main character discovers a secret aspect of it and uses it to his advantage.

The idea is it is both original in story line, as well as it being somewhat as a tribute to many major scrolling shooters out there in the world. Yes, this will give tribute to at least the following series:

- Gradius
- Thunder Force
- R-Type
- Raiden
- Ikaruga
- Battle Garegga

Exactly how will be in two ways:

1. In addition to the main fighter, there will also be tribute fighters designed after how the fighters in the tribute games work. Which means that in addition to a jet that has light/dark capabilities (kinda like the Ikaruga fighter, but not quite...), there will also be fighters with the ability to:

-Power up using capsules of energy...
-Power up using weapon type supplies...
-Power up using special "lenses"...
-Power up between wide/focused/and homing...
-Power up by absorbing enemy fire...
-Power up in increments, and by doing so make the game much harder as you go along...

...In addition to different fighting styles, selecting different fighters will make enemies behave differently. For example, with a Gradius tribute, most enemies would be similar in color, minus those that drop capsules. Thunder Force would have more variety, and enemies will come from all angles more erratically, since you can easily swap between different degrees of fire. Ikaruga would have something similar to how its game worked (two bullets, one dark, one light). R-Type will have the stages and enemies designed more to make you think strategically, rather than with your movement keys. And Raiden/Battle Garegga, just a lot of enemies because I'm masochist like that >_>

I also plan on giving a tribute to Salamander, in which depending on the level, the fighter will be either flying horizontally, or vertically, thus giving the feel that at some point in time, the tribute fighters will be in their home environment.

2. Tribute Bosses, or at least use soundtracks that sound similar to something in their environment ...

Examples of ideas:

- A boss that has a core of sorts
- Rival fighters (kinda taking from Thunder Force 5 in this idea...kinda...I'll think on the idea...)
- Bio-Mechanical
- (A throwback to Raiden 4's fake final level) A ballistic missile
- Enemy capable of light and dark attacks
- ...I'm thinking of a cameo of Black Heart, if you know what I mean by that (one of the hardest bosses in a scrolling shooter I have ever faced o.o)

...All will also have some of kind of tie into the Ailment universe, most likely being possessed or something similar to that...

This means that if I settled for 6 stages, there would be 3 horizontal, 3 vertical, a nice mix up, but these stages are "tribute" stages in a way, I will probably have my own designs too as well.
